How to keep termites away from your house:

* Keep moisture out.  Use downspouts and gutters to divert water away from the home's foundation.
* Store mulch, firewood, and wood chips away from the home.
* Ensure shrubs, vines, and other plants aren't planted too close to the home and aren't covering vents.
* Ventilate crawl spaces to reduce humidity.
* Eliminate gaps and cracks in areas such as attic vents, window joints, and roof eaves.
* Remove old tree stumps and roots near the home.
8/14/2009 New I-12 Exit
The state highway department is finally starting the process of opening bids for the $20 million project, where the long awaited interchange at the Interstate 12 and Louisiana 1088 will be.  The pending date for the commencement of the project is August 26, 2009 if the department receives the wetlands permit in time.  This interchange would improve access to the new Lakeshore High School which opened last week.

The new High School in Mandeville opened to the new school year and things are great. From the kids, to the teachers and the principal, everybody loves the new school and are very impressed with all the state of the art gadgets. Living off of Hwy. 59, I have noticed the difference in the traffic since Fountainbleau High School received some relief with the splitting of the students to the new high school. Lets wish them all a great year!

Has anyone heard of secondlife.com?  It's a virtual world where you participate through an avatar and travel to different worlds and see all kinds of unimaginable things.  Why do I mention this? Well, a lot of big companies are using the virtual world to sell their products, because you see, you can upload photos and through a paypal account actually sell things.  It's pretty amazing.  Even Disney World has it own place.  So would you go shopping at my virtual brokerage company? Humm..

Mandeville like Covington has its own Farmer's Market except the one in Mandeville has so much more! Every Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00 come to the Mandeville Trailhead on Girod Street, blocks from the Lake for the Mandeville Farmer's Market. There you will find not only produce, but cooked food and a very large amount of arts and crafts. I know its hot out there, but bring the kids and enjoy the water fountains. They will love it!
